This is a generic assignment that you can use to fit ANY novel/play you're doing.
It's called a RAFTS assignment - role, audience, format, topic
Students write in role and get to pick their own "adventure" - and they get really into the potential combo's they can do!
-The project description
-Description of the different options (diary entry, eulogy etc.)
-A rubric (NOTE - you can also make this a "MEDIA" assignment where they have to do a creative component and make it LOOK authentic)
-A Topic Info Sheet - essentially a proposal, where you can check to see if their combo's make sense
They get insanely creative with this project - it's always a hit!
Works especially well for Shakespeare, but I've done it with other novel studies (even short stories!) just as successfully.
