For this activity, you will need to get several paint swatches found at any home goods store. (Ace, Home Depot, Lowes) I usually look for color names that would be good for creative writing. Remember: it is the NAME that students will be using to write and not necessarily the color itself.
I also usually cut the samples up and have students choose several random ones from a box.
After gluing down their color samples, students will write a plan for their story. This helps them come up with better ideas as opposed to just writing randomly about colors.
Finally, students will complete their color sample stories and possibly share them with the class.
