This game is great for practicing tricky enharmonics! They are learned and quickly memorized with this fun activity!
Students will LOVE this game because they get to move around and help each other find partners – they are highly motivated! It’s unlike your normal band activity and the change of pace makes it memorable!
If you’re not familiar with this game, it’s very simple to teach. Each student gets a card with a different note name on it. Then they find a partner who has the same “enharmonic” note name as them. Example: C# is looking for their partner, Db.
DETAILED instructions (with pictures) are included along with a number of ways to SIMPLIFY the game and a number of ways to make it more CHALLENGING. The instructions are written to work with any of our “Find a Partner” games – rhythm value, note name, symbols or terms or enharmonics.
This game includes 3 individual sets:
Set 1 – Note Names only
Set 2 – Treble and Bass clef note names on the staff (5 lines/4 spaces)
Set 3– Treble and Bass clef note names on ledger lines (aka: extreme registers)
