This is an easy format for students to research evidence from class text and write brief commentary. Students are provided with a topic sentence about how the Enlightenment Thinkers influenced American government or a blank template is provided for teachers/students to fill in their own topic sentence. Instructional materials, two pre-writing templates and a newspaper format writing template are included for teachers to pick and choose how to scaffold best. This is a great review activity that connects students with today.
This activity can also be used as a Common Core assessment. Students complete the pre-write template in class and show up on assessment day to write a complete, well articulated paragraph.
It covers important key figures of the Enlightenment including Baron de Montesquieu, Beccaria, John Locke, Voltaire and Hobbes.
If you like this idea, it goes perfectly with the PowerPoint and graphic organizer posted. Power Point posted under Enlightenment Thinkers Power point.
Check out this and many other activities bundled together for a great price in the Enlightenment Bundle.
