Group activity Lesson. The lesson addresses how the enlightenment thinker's ideas were revolutionary for their time and the impact that those ideas had on their society. The lesson identifies the 5 concepts that shaped the enlightenment thinkers core beliefs. (Reason, nature, happiness, truth, progress, and freedom). 1)The lesson puts the students in the shoes of the enlightenment thinkers and asks them to develop their own ideas in these areas. 2) The lesson activity compares the students answers with the enlightenment thinkers ideas 3) The lesson asks students to formulate suggestions to improve events in their world as the enlightenment thinkers attempted to improve their world with their ideas. Lesson includes student objectives (SWBAT), aim, do now, assessments, 2 group activities and an exit slips. Lesson can be 1-2 periods.
