This activity was recently completely revised! This is a fun, interactive way to get student to process the important contributions of historical figures like Voltaire, Locke, Montesquieu, Wollstonecraft and Beccaria. Students will trade cards in class in a PowerPoint driven competition.
First Student read the Enlightenment Thinker notes provided and complete trading two cards per student. Then, in the PowerPoint competition students have to respond to question, if they get the questions right they get to steal/trade a card from someone in their group. The obejective is to have as many high value cards as possible. During the activity students evaluate and make decisions based on which cards they think would be most valuable. At the end of the powerpoint each card/person is issued a point value. Students with the most points win!
Supplementary notes are provided for a few women of the Enlightenment that are often not covered in standard textbooks.
This is a perfect activity to do after the Enlightenment PowerPoint and Graphic Organizer also posted.
