How about a week to two week long unit spotlighting films about French and French Canadian education systems? Maybe an end-of-year activity? These two movies work great together and both present stack contrasts to the typical American school movies such as "Freedom Writers" or going back a few years "Dangerous Minds". No, all is not always well in the classroom and sometimes we have to modify out actions accordingly.
Included are Anticipation Guides for previewing the movies: questions designed to get students talking and thinking about what they are about to see such as "Parents should leave the business of what happens at school to teachers and students. There is no need for them to get involved", along with 30-40 plot based questions asked in simple French such as "Qu'est-ce que François enseigne?".
I have also included a viewing check quiz and several reviews of the films (cited from their original sources of course). This packet is BOSS. I graduated with a Master's degree in French from UCLA and film appreciation is definitely one of my "points forts".
