I HIGHLY recommend showing the TedTalk, How to Practice Effectively for Just About Anything (https://youtu.be/f2O6mQkFiiw) to your students, whether they are beginners, intermediate players, or advanced musicians. It is a fabulous jumping off point to talking about how playing an instrument affects our brains, and more importantly, how practice builds skills. Connecting practicing to brain science for your students can be a big lightbulb moment for them to suddenly "get" why practice is so important.
This resource is a 1/2 sheet companion worksheet to go along with this amazing TedTalk. There are 2 copies of the worksheet on a single page, so plan to print and cut.
For more info to share with your students on practicing and how it affects the brain, use this resource as an entry task or hook, followed by my Practice Like a Pro presentation.
As always, you can find me on Teachers Pay Teachers by searching for "Symphfunny Orchestra." I'm also on YouTube (channel name: Symphfunny)!
