This product is a color-by-number activity that allows students to answer questions about short- and long- term environmental changes. And YES- even secondary students love to color!
There are 9 scenarios for students to read and corresponding multiple choice questions for students to answer. Each answer choice corresponds to a different color. If all of the correct answer choices are chosen, then their final picture will be colored correctly to reflect complete mastery of the content.
I've also included an optional reading passage for students that discusses the differences between short- and long- term environmental changes and the adaptations that organisms make in response to these changes. This passage could be used as a way to differentiate for different leveled learners, or you could use it for students who are just getting exposed to the content.
If you choose not to use the optional reading passage, then students should be familiar with the following terms and ideas in order to be successful with this activity:
•short-term environmental changes (such as earthquakes, droughts, fires, and flooding)
•long-term environmental changes (such as climate change)
This could be used as a quick assessment, a homework assignment, additional practice, extra credit, or for early finishers. These are also great for days when you have to be out of the classroom - a sub can easily take over this lesson!
