This is a bundle of 7 environment and ecology lessons designed to facilitate independent learning and are ideal for sub plans or simply to encourage self-instruction of basic concepts.

Each lesson includes:
1. Lesson- Content & vocabulary gained through internet links, videos, and/or PowerPoint presentations.
2. Activity- Lab, game, or class activity designed to apply the concepts learned in the lesson.
3: Assessment- Quiz, assignment, exit ticket, or project as a culmination and review of lesson

This curriculum is ideally geared towards high school students, but is appropriate for any student looking for an independent, student-centered approach to learning.

Lesson 1- Spheres of the Earth
hydrosphere, atmosphere, lithosphere, biosphere

Lesson 2- Ecology
biotic factors, abiotic factors, producers, consumers, decomposers, habitat, niche, autotrophs and heterotrophs, food chains, and food webs

Lesson 3- Population Growth
exponential growth, limiting factors, carrying capacity, density-dependent and density-independent factors, predator and prey cycles

Lesson 4- Species & Biodiversity
identifying a species, endangered species, threatened species, calculating a biodiversity index, and sampling procedures

Lesson 5- World Biomes
food webs, habitats, climate, tropical rainforest, savannah, desert, steppe, chapparral, grasslands, deciduous forest, taiga, tundra, and alpine biomes

Lesson 6- Symbiosis and Interactions
producers & consumers, heterotrophs & autotrophs, trophic pyramids, decomposers, symbiotic relationships, mutualism, commensalism, parasitism, predation, energy flow & energy loss

Lesson 7- Communities & Succession
keystone species, foundation species, umbrella species, indicator species, ecological succession, primary succession, secondary succession, pioneer community, climax community, geocaching
