This Unit/lesson bundle contains READY-TO-TEACH and EDITABLE Smart Notebook based Lessons and all you need to teach from beginning to end.
"Global Change" is one of 8 units developed for a comprehensive and progressive Smart Curriculum for high school Environmental Science that is nearly all digital and paperless. This unit covers the topics according to the Mind Map image shown. Although this unit and the others in the course function as a general introductory environmental science course, the topic progression is the same as the AP college board's recommended AP topic outline and the lessons are ready for differentiated instruction and discussion as determined by the instructor.
WHAT DO I NEED?
The Unit/Lesson Bundle and each of lessons within the unit are self-sufficient, with built-in interactivity and hyperlinks. They are designed, by necessity, to be ready for the experienced teacher to teach and reteach after only a brief pre-class viewing. SMART NOTEBOOK SOFTWARE IS REQUIRED. To see if you have Smart notebook software, simply check out
this free sample lesson that illustrates this curriculum and how I teach. If the sample lesson doesn't work, then before you make any purchases you should ask your school's tech support to have the software installed.
An interactive whiteboard/projector/touchscreen is recommended, but not required, in order to most effectively deliver the lessons. Many lessons require internet access for the instructor and students and are optimized for a one-to-one computer environment. These independent activities can often be adapted to a whole-class guided activity or paper based project if your computer resources are limited to a single teacher computer.
WHAT WILL I GET WITH THIS PRODUCT?:
This product is a zipped file which includes all of the digital material needed to teach the unit "Global Change" over about 9 days. 8 Editable "Ready to Teach" notebook files are included. A suggested and editable block plan is included. [15 total files/resources are included in the zipped folder] Lessons follow the Madeline Hunter approach with the average lesson consisting of about 20 minutes of "tell me" and/or "show me" and 20 minutes of "Involve me." A summative test is NOT included, but an essay which requires critical thinking and application of the material is suggested in the block plan. A feedback site such as Socrative is an excellent compliment for review and feedback while teaching any of the lessons. To this end there is an optional blank "review" page at the start of each lesson for instructors to insert or conduct their own review of content or concepts from prior lesson(s).
