This product provides you with 70, open-ended, warm-up questions covering material normally found in an environmental science unit of biology or life science. There are two products: a 70-slide Power Point show, and a PDF document, each showing the same 70 questions. Use any of the questions that you find appropriate - either show them on the screen, or write them on the board.
You can also use the questions as part of a review before a test, or add them to your test.
The questions refer to these topics:
- ecology terms
- interactions among living things
- nitrogen cycle
- water cycle
- environmental issues
- water treatment
- human influence on the environment
- food chains and food webs
- energy pyramids
I assign warm-ups at the beginning of class while I take role, and then review student answers with the class. It's a good way to introduce material, review yesterday's lesson, or get insight into how well students are grasping the concepts. Students write the questions and their answers in their journal, which then becomes a great study tool.
Each warm-up question is designed to take 3-5 minutes of the students' time.
