A set of graphing questions and a modeling clay activity focused around the firefly enzyme Luciferase help students to apply their knowledge of enzymes!
This resource is included in my Enzymes Mini-Unit. The unit also includes graphing activities and tutorials/worksheets.
Many of my questions are intended to get students to think deeper. These are not recall questions and students do not find them easy! They are challenging and I designed them this way. With lower level classes, the teacher may need to give students clues or lead them through a few questions to get them started. Only advanced students can complete these questions with no help.
This resource includes 4 different parts. Using a real life example of an enzyme, students calculate enzyme rates, they graph enzymatic rates vs temperature, they analyze a free energy diagram, and they model their own enzyme using modeling clay! You can do one activity at a time as a class or set up different learning centers or areas of your classroom. This activity is very versatile and could be completed many different ways!
