Enzymes are so difficult for students to visualize- but not anymore! In this simple and inexpensive lab activity, students will observe the reaction of catalase (from potatoes) by mixing it with hydrogen peroxide.

Students test 4 reactions to determine the effects of acids and temperature on the effectiveness of the catalase:
-Potato + water
-Potato + hydrogen peroxide
-Potato + vinegar + hydrogen peroxide
-Cooked potato + hydrogen peroxide
