Product Description
An Epidemic of "Mathatocious" has occurred. Mathatocious is a disease that affects a person's ability to use basic math skills. Symptoms include: not being able to do mental math and reaching for a calculator to compute basic math facts. Using this scenario and some given data, students will need to determine the number of people that report being affected on day 30, day 60 and day 90 of this epidemic. They will also report the total number of people that have been affected since the beginning of the epidemic. I used scenario #1, Day 30, as my introduction to sequences and series and had them hand calculate before I gave them the formulas to compute day 60 and day 90. However, this exercise can also be used to close the unit on sequences and series.
