Thank you for purchasing Equal or Not? Activities designed to Develop a student’s understanding of the meaning of equal! The activities in this pack will help students develop a deeper understanding of the meaning of equal. These activities can be done independently, in teacher-led small groups, or as a math center/station.

In this pack, you will find:
• True False Balancing Equation Game-Copy cards on oak tag. Laminate for durability. Students can work with teacher, individually, or in pairs to sort the equation cards in either the true column or the false column. Then they can record their sort on the True/False recording sheet.
• Balancing Equation Activity Sheet-Students will solve the equation to make the equation true and explain their thinking.
• Equal or Not Equal? Activity Sheet-Students will solve, cut out, and paste the equations in the equal or not equal column.
• Balancing Equations Flip Game-Copy math fact cards on oak tag. Laminate for durability. Students can work with teacher, individually, or in pairs to flip over two fact fluency cards and decide whether they are equal or not. There are four different sets of equal cards: is equal to, is not equal to, is the same as, is not the same as. Just copy on oak tag, cut out the equal cards on the dotted lines, and laminate for durability.
