PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Substitution in expressions and equations can be fun! I absolutely love (and always have!) algebra, but some students get nervous when they need numbers mixed with letters. Our students need practice substituting and evaluating expressions and equations because it's a new skill!

You will need at least 1 die for each group.

DIFFERENTIATE!
There are a total of 60 cards, each with a different expression.
Each level, A, B, or C, contains 20 cards.
Level A: These cards have 2-term expressions and yield a positive integer for an answer. Only addition and subtraction are used as operators between terms.
Level B: These cards have 3-term expressions and yield an integer for an answer (usually positive, depending on what number is rolled). Only addition and subtraction are used as operators between terms.
Level C: These cards have multi-term expressions that include exponents and all four operations between terms. These cards are designed to be a challenge & enrichment.
Each card is labeled with the ABC notation so that you can quickly and easily sort cards and differentiate as needed.

To differentiate within each level, use a variety of dice! For your emerging mathematicians, give them a 6-sided die, but as they master the skill, throw in a 12-sided or even a 20-sided die! You can also give groups 2 dice and ask them to use the sum as their variables. The options are really up to you!

How to Play:
The object of the game is the get the most points when the time runs out. Students flip an expression card over and roll a dice to determine what each variable is equal to. If the answer is a multiple of 10, they lose all of their points. If it's not, they get to add the answer to their total sum of points.
