Accelerate Math Practice Using Puzzles (AMP-UP) is a math practicing program I created to support the lessons in my STEM-LA Initiative. I designed the four puzzles formats to challenge students to use their mental math skills in an atmosphere of enter-student competition .
The initial 24 puzzles were designed to emphasize the Order of Operations, while providing ascending levels of difficulty to help students increase their critical thinking and problem solving abilities through the solving and creation of traditional and non-tradition equations.
My Elementary Math Quads Puzzles serves as an introduction, or tutorial to my more challenging Basic Math Quads, Advance Math Quads and my Binary Quads Puzzle packets.
Games such as the Puzzle Check Game are one of the many classroom and home school strategies and assignments suggestions I've provided for free on my website, www.coygonarts.com to support the continued use of the puzzles in program. I've found the familiar challenges of game based competition between students to be helpful tool in reinforcing basic to more advance math concepts within students.
This particular game requires students to exchange a completed exercise between each other. Then each student or team will start the review process and begin gaining or losing points based on the accuracy of their Accuracy Claims during the answer checking process. The teacher or Student Game Masters will circle the room and monitor the process as the Accuracy Judges during the gaming session.
I believe AMP-UP represents a fresh approach in our attempt to engage and challenge students who have become more and more bored and disengaged within our classrooms. I hope you will take the time to visit my TPT Store and my website at www.coygonarts.com to review the other instructional materials I’ve designed to help recapture the imagination of your students.
I'm developing a comment section or blog on my website to allow you to share your ideas and triumphs with me and our fellow teachers and parents. I hope you and your students will enjoy the puzzles. Take care and keep the faith! .........COYGON
