Equations with Variables is a 2-player game in which students practice solving expressions. Players take turns rolling one die to determine the value for x. Players search for an expression on the game board that needs the missing value to make the expression true and place a colored counter on it. If no expression requires the value rolled, then the player skips a turn. The first player to cover five boxes in a row – vertically, horizontally, or diagonally – is the winner. Equations with Variables makes for a great math station or whole group activity and meets of exceeds the Common Core Standards of Mathematics and the New Jersey Standards for Student Learning. Colored counters and a 6-sided die are needed to play the game.
