“Math Teacher’s got Problems” presents Equivalent Expressions:
A Color to Sort Activity. An engaging activity where students must match equivalent expressions to the verbal phrases or simplify the expressions by combining like terms or using the distributive property, then shade the box to match the expression color key. The color to sort format makes it engaging for students and easy for you to assess student progress. This activity is perfect for math stations, interactive notebooks or as a standalone activity! Easy to grade, print ready, and an answer key, suggestions for extension and intervention included!
I used this in my 7th grade class during the Expressions & Equations Unit, but it would work well as a review for pre-algebra and algebra classes. Students must have previous knowledge of solving problems with integers. Common core aligned.
