This cut and paste puzzle includes matching three equivalent expressions by combining like terms, applying the distributive property and using exponents. No integer operation knowledge is needed so this is perfect for upper elementary/early middle school. Aligned to 6th grade common core math standards. Use in centers, as individual or group practice or even in interactive notebooks to practice generating equivalent expressions.

Identify when two expressions are equivalent (i.e., when the two expressions name the same number regardless of which value is substituted into them). For example, the expressions ๐บ + ๐บ + ๐บ and 3๐บ are equivalent because they name the same number regardless of which number ๐บ stands for.
