Grade 3 Numbers and Operations
Recognize and generate simple equivalent fractions, e.g., 1/2 = 2/4, 4/6 = 2/3. Explain why the fractions are equivalent, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
*although this is a direct grade 3 standard, the worksheets could be used at any grade to give students practice with equivalent fractions
These worksheets combine math and art. Students are directed to color a certain fraction of a design. They can use their creativity with the placement of the color to create a design of their choice while also using the fraction directions to create equivalent fractions. They must then figure out what the equivalent fraction is that is represented by the design.
The worksheets are organized by the design. There is an intro design that I thought would work good to teach the students how to use the other designs. Each of the other designs have a simple and hard version and are accompanied by an answer key.
