I use this activity to introduce equivalent fractions. For each page students make a fraction that is equivalent to one-half. They sketch a picture of their rectangle in their booklet and record the equivalent fraction. The last two pages are writing in math questions which require students to explain math concepts in words.
-Tiles (or other manipulatives like snap cubes)
-5 student pages which become 10 booklet pages
The pages in this book are organized so that they are easy to put together. If pages are collated, you just cut them in half and they are ready to staple. They can also be printed front and back. Cutting guides are included. This is important if you want to save prep time by having students cut their own pages.
