This equivalent fraction power point deals with getting fractions to the lowest terms.
This comes with a power point that shows the steps for reducing fractions to lowest terms, a template for the students to use (this could be glued into an interactive notebook), and worksheets.
Along with the nine premade worksheets, there is a template so that you can make as many as you want with different numbers, make them easier, or more difficult.
My third grade son was telling me how he explained to his fourth grade friend how to reduce fractions. He told me that he said to make a boat and sail away the extra stuff. Apparently it worked, because the fourth grader got it after that.
I took this idea and created a power point and some worksheets to use. The power point goes through how to do this and at the end the students are asked to try some on their own. It also comes with a template for them to physically manipulate the numbers. I have provided some values to use, but also provide a template for you to add your own. There are also a few worksheets that go along with this, but also provide a blank so that if the students need more practice you can make up more using that same background.
The template also makes a great small bulletin board poster to remind the students of what to do.
