Fractions were hard enough, now students are trying to grasp the concept of equivalent fractions. When flashcards and worksheets aren't enough, interactive games help students learn challenging concepts. These puzzles are similar to my multiplication subway art and addition rock star puzzles.
Students have instant feedback while matching equivalent fractions as they construct a fun prehistoric scene. The puzzles work well as a center activity, or extended practice for early finishers. I have even printed a few off to send home with students for practice over the weekend. (a check out system works really well for this so you don't have to print off 20 puzzles.)
Benchmark Fractions used in this series of puzzles include: 1/2, 1/3 2/3, 1/4, 2/4, & 3/4. Denominators for equivalent fraction also include 5ths, 6ths, 8ths, 10ths, 12ths, and 16ths.
Each puzzle offers options for differentiation, and each picture can be printed on all three puzzles in the set; giving you 18 mix-and-match possibilities.
* 1 set of cards with numerical fractions only
* 1 set with fraction pictures, parts of a whole
* 1 set with fraction pictures, parts of a group
Each puzzle also comes with 2 follow-up or extension worksheets (I call them "Show What You Know) to continue the practice or show mastery. The worksheets reflect the differentiated level of the puzzles.
