This interactive is intended to help your students understand equivalent fractions as having the same value, even though they may look different. Your students will each get a pizza with toppings. You will give them a fraction and tell them to put their choice of toppings on that fractional part. Next, you will ask the students to cut their pizza into smaller sized pieces. Write the equivalent fraction made. Ask the students, “Did you get more pizza or do you still have the same amount?” Equivalent amounts of pizza=equivalent fractions.
