Each student lays down a card. Whoever has the higher value wins the cards.
Here is a set of WAR cards to promote basic number sense through comparing numbers while also having students practice previously learned skills.
This set is designed to encounter equivalent fractions frequently. The cards have a common fraction and its multiple equivalents in order to help students automatize fractions and their equivalents and ease their way into reducing fractions later on.
* Print out one set (5 pages) for a game involving 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 3/4, 1/5, 2/5, 1/8, various tenths and hundredths, and fractions that equal one whole.
* Or print out multiple copies of the first and second page to create a game with numerous opportunities for equivalent fractions focusing only on 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, and 3/4.
* Students can also order fractions from least to greatest and greatest to least.
For use during game time, math centers, fun Friday, rainy day recess, or workshop.
I, myself, use it with my combo class to keep them learning while I am teaching the other grade level.
Total of 60 cards.
