Eric Carle is one of my favorite children's authors so of course I love to cover as many books of his as I can in my classroom. This includes both the first and second week of my Eric Carle author study. I tend to do this is in the late spring but Eric Carle's birthday is in March as well as Very Hungry Caterpillar Day so that is the perfect time to do it as well. This unit includes 10 days worth of activities beginning with all about Eric Carle then a daily focus on a different book. The books included in this unit are The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Grouchy Ladybug, The Mixed Up Chameleon, 10 Little Rubber Ducks, The Foolish Tortoise, Mister Seahorse, A House for Hermit Crab, The Very Busy Spider, and Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother, Too?. There are several literacy, math, science, and art activities provided for each book. A listing of what is included is below.
