I loved this lesson and especially thought it was great that students took a concept and used it in the outside world!
My sociology and contemporary issues class viewed the film, "Erin Brockovich" to teach values and environmental law respectively.
For this purchase you get a 4 page culminating activity. This is just ONE activity: Please see my other product for a power point with links, a quiz (with answer key), and an assessment that deals with three essential questions. This product just gives an article/assignment to cover concept. With the other product, you get this and all the extras for just a slightly higher price.
I give the directions, but students take an updating article with a graph and then head to the "real world" to find out more info on chromium 6. It's a great way for students to learn about law in their towns/cities and what they can do to become more informed.
About the movie: I focus on the concept of environment and law. I realize it's a rated R movie, but I have juniors and seniors. I send a permission slip home at the beginning of the course outlining to parents my intentions with it. I have used the film 6 times and have yet had an issue. Students love to connect real life stories to themselves, so this is perfect.
