Your students will love making erosion movie trailers, and they’ll become experts in erosion along the way! Erosion used to be a tough and boring objective for my 2nd graders until I explained to them that wind and water are like monsters who cause damage to the soil and flowers are like heroes with their roots working to keep the soil in place. What better way to make this analogy more concrete than with a movie trailer?!
This product includes an explanation of how I implemented this project with my 2nd graders, a fictional letter from Walt Disney Studios to hook students, blank movie trailer scene cards, a video tutorial for the app Flipagram, a movie trailer checklist for assessment, and two student samples. **
This product is aligned with Virginia's 2nd Grade Science Standard of Learning 2.7b (erosion of land surfaces) and 2.8d (plants help reduce erosion).
** This product requires the use of an iPhone, iPod, or iPad.
