How often do we wish to stop the common mistakes from occurring? How often do we wish to emphasize to our students not to make a particular error? How often do we wish that we could show our students all the "possible" common errors and have them analyze it?
This product contains "ERROR ANALYSIS"
cards which deal with common mistakes which occur while Dividing Polynomials
I have comprised a list of possible mistakes that students make when they're asked to Divide Polynomials
and included these mistakes in cards. Dividing by Synthetic Division
as well as Long Division
are both examined in these error analysis.
such as forgetting to include zeros coefficients for missing terms, writing polynomial in standard form, forgetting to use the zero of the divisor when dividing, and many more common mistakes are illustrated in these cards. A "POSSIBLE"
answer key is provided. Please use your own way of rewriting/rewording the answer key to bond with your students.
Students will be engaged in these 10 Error Analysis cards
. In each of the cards, a scenario is given with the wrong approach to multiplying polynomials. The student is asked to:
1. Identify the error and explain it
2. Answer the problem correctly
3. Provide a helpful strategy or hint to avoid making this mistake in the future.
You could provide the student with the Error Analysis card to answer on it, or, use the attached Recording Sheet
When could you use Error Analysis Cards?
Here are some suggestions:

☑ Entrance/Exit Ticket
☑ When some time is left at the end of the class regardless of the topic being taught
