Contains a PowerPoint presentation covering errors in human cognition. This would best be used in a Psychology or AP Psychology class as part of the Cognition and Language unit.
The PowerPoint is HIGHLY animated and is designed to capture student attention. Each slide has transitions along with rich, moving media. Additionally, a guided note sheet is included in the zip file to help students follow along with the presentation.
Topics covered include:
-- Hindsight Bias
-- Confirmation Bias
-- Fixation (Mental Set and Functional Fixedness)
-- Belief Perseverance
-- Barnum Effect
-- Representativeness Heuristic
Additionally, students take a quiz to determine how overconfident they are in their judgments and also engage in an activity to see how their representativeness heuristic affects how much they perceive the incidence of various "killers" to be (such as lung cancer, murder, etc.)
Please note that the fonts "Clarendon Condensed and "Kozuka Mincho Pro B" are used in these documents. If your computer does not have these fonts installed, it will automatically replace them with a default font, which will cause it to look different than the screenshots indicated and require you to re-format the slides.
