This escape room / breakout box is intended to be used to review literary terms with students. It reviews literary terms in 4 genres: fiction, nonfiction, poetry and drama. This is a great way to review before state exams!
This escape room contains 5 different tasks.
Task 1 – Fiction Literary Terms – Students will match definitions on small task cards to words in a word bank. They will then record their answers on a puzzle sheet. They will use the gray boxes to create a final task on the sheet (draw a plot diagram.)
Task 2 – Poetry Chain – Students will match poetry terms with their definitions creating a long chain.
Task 3 – Nonfiction terms – Students read a definition on a task card and choose the correct word. They then transfer this answer letter onto a puzzle sheet. Following all the task cards, students use the answer grid on the puzzle sheet to reveal a secret code.
Task 4 – Drama Terms– Students match words with their definitions. When they are finished, a secret phrase will be revealed.
Task 5 – Final Secret Message – Students put together a puzzle. They puzzle celebrates their finishing of all the activities. Students then write their final message on their answer sheet.
No technology is needed by your students to complete this escape room.
