This product is a fun and engaging math game based on the Escape Room attractions that can be found across the world. Similar to the Escape Room attractions, students will be “locked in” during this game, and the object is to find the codes to “escape” within a given time period.
In order to be successful, teams will need to use good communication, logic, attention to detail, and cooperation.
This particular Escape Room focuses on middle level math knowledge and logic. Knowledge of multiplication, addition, prime numbers, factors, multiples, and mathematical vocabulary will help students solve the puzzles.
This game is great for an opening activity for a new math class because it will review previously learned skills while requiring students to get to know each other in a team building experience. It can also be used as a review activity during the year, or at the end of the year.
This Escape Room activity requires the use of technology because students will need to be able to access Google Forms. The use of the Google Form reduces the amount of preparation and printing for the teacher. It also will only progress to the next room if the correct code is entered.
This product includes two versions of the game . One version adds the element of a scavenger hunt, while the other doesn’t require the students to ever leave your classroom. Both versions are an interactive experience that requires students to solve math problems and puzzles that will lead them to breakout codes.
Students will be divided into teams where the object is for their team to break out of all four rooms before the time is up. I recommend 45 minutes, but you can vary the time based on the needs of your class. A digital game board is also included where teams can be assigned a team game piece that they move through the rooms as they escape each room.
I have also included a video preview so you can better understand the product.
