Product Description

If you are looking for an Escape Room experience for your elementary students to end their school year, this will be perfect! An Escape room is a puzzle game in which students solve riddles and puzzles and find clues to finish tasks. In this Quest students solve puzzles to open locked boxes.

NOTE: This Escape Room is available in a money-saving bundle!

Escape Room Mega Bundle

For the first task, groups begin with a Summer Words Scavenger Hunt paper that tells them where signs are located in the school. They need to find the signs and copy the letters into spaces on their sheets. Shaded boxes of the words they find will reveal a secret phrase and leads them to a clue to unlock the first box. There are two versions of the scavenger hunt paper- one easy and one more challenging. These two versions are provided in an editable format so you can customize it for your classroom and school.

For the second task, students have a maze on which to trace paths to find hidden numbers that turn out to be the lock code. The maze has a trick to it because all the hidden numbers cannot be reached on a path. Finding the correct numbers and determining the right order for the numbers will unlock box 2.

For the third task, students have a secret code to use in deciphering a secret message. This gives them the lock code numbers and placing those numbers in the right order will get box three unlocked!

BUT there is MORE! Included in this Quest is a STEM Challenge! You can use the challenge as a stand-alone project or use it with the Quest. This Quick Challenge is to build a bubble wand for bubble solution. It’s a very simple challenge that can be completed outdoors and this makes it perfect for the end of the year!

You will need three number locks for this quest. Directions are included to use this set without these locks! You will also need three boxes. This can be a plastic or metal tool box, but any box will work- even a cardboard box! Directions and photos are included for how to set up the boxes and locks or how to use a version without locks. You do not need 3 boxes and 3 locks per group! It’s three boxes and three locks for the entire class.

Included in the Quest file of this resource, you will find a table of contents, and 3 pages of tips and tricks for setting up everything. For Box 1- 2 pages of teacher directions, two versions of the scavenger hunt paper (editable), clues for the scavenger hunt lock code, and the box labels. For Box 2- 2 pages of teacher directions, the maze and answer key, clues for the lock code, and box labels. For Box 3 – 2 pages of teacher directions, secret code and message, answer key for the message, and box labels. Miscellaneous forms include hint cards for each task, an alternative locking system (made of paper), a color-by-number summer page for early finishers, certificates to award students completing the task, and all pages are provided in a black and white version.

Included in the STEM Challenge file you will find an overview and hints page, 3 pages of teacher directions, criteria cards for student use, and a lab sheet with an answer sample. The lab sheet and criteria cards are editable. Materials needed for the STEM Challenge include pipe cleaners and bubble solution. The solution recipe is included.

Check the preview to see everything!

One more thing to note: This was tested with fourth and fifth graders. The escape room event can be completed in 30 minutes and the STEM Challenge in about 30 more minutes -if your students are familiar with this type of format. If this is your first escape room/Quest it may take a little longer.
