Students will review comma rules as they try to find the missing commas and save the sentences. This escape room styled activity reviews the following comma rules: items in a series, direct address, commas in dates, commas in addresses, joining compound sentences, nonessential phrases, and compound adjectives.
Your download includes the following:
* 20 task cards for students to identify where commas are needed
* teacher instructions and tips page
* answer key for codes and secret phrase
* editable Google form that can be customized to fit your needs
In this online activity, students input answers into a Google Form and are automatically told if their code/answer is correct. If not, they have to try again. If it is correct, they are awarded a letter toward the secret phrase at the end.
This product is meant as a review for students who are already familiar with the rules of comma usage. Facilitation of the game (from me giving instructions to the first group solving the secret phrase) takes anywhere from 15-45 minutes depending on grade level of students and familiarity of comma rules.
This activity is primarily geared towards middle and high school level but could be adapted for younger grades.
