This classroom activity is a great way to end a unit on The Giver. Completion of the 7 challenges takes 30-50 minutes of highly engaging and entertaining problem solving. Teams work together to escape the community using clues left by the Receiver of Memory in the Annex.
This game is a great way to review The Giver as well as a chance for kids to use higher level thinking skills. The set up is based on the popular Escape room set up but only requires paper (and maybe some lamination and lock boxes if you want) There are 7 challenges ranging in difficulty from a simple jigsaw puzzle to choosing the emotions that are describe in different passages from the book. There is something to fit every ability.
This escape room has two close reading challenges, 1 map reading challenge, 1 order of operations math question, team building and reading recall all wrapped into one. Your students will love the fast passed fully interactive lesson and won't even realize they are learning!
