Engage your students with this editable, digital breakout using Google Forms!

"It is officially Spring Break! You and your friends are walking home from school when a gust of wind whistles by. It lifts all the flowers from a Magnolia tree, blowing them into the air leaving the rest of the tree bare. A beautiful display of pink flowers float all around expected to fall and blanket the soft ground. However, the flowers don’t descend, but seem to flutter in another direction. Intrigued by this curiosity, you and your friends drop your belongings and race after them. Several minutes of continuous running leaves you out of breath with your hands on your knees. After catching your breath and slowly looking up, you are amazed at the sights you see; gnomes in mushroom homes, bumblebees in purple trees, butterflies in pink skies - A truly fantastical land! Explore the area and interact with the creatures, but remember, you must get back before school starts again!"

Each of my digital breakouts includes a link to the Google form, a reference sheet, instructions, and an answer sheet for the teacher. PLEASE NOTE: The Google form is editable. The reference sheet is not. Each student will need a copy of the reference sheet. This sheet will contain important information needed to complete the activities. Students may also need to write on the paper to solve puzzles or complete certain tasks. The reference sheet provides a hands-on component that students love!

Students will be engaged through solving puzzles, ciphers, completing activities, and using critical thinking skills related to the theme.

This type of digital breakout is fun and engaging for a large range of grades, roughly 4th through high school! Please note, it will be challenging for the younger grades. Remember, the form is editable to fit the needs of your students. You may add hints if your students need more guidance. Additionally, if you feel that I have given too many hints, feel free to edit those out to make it more challenging.

This digital breakout is designed to take 40-60 minutes. I give my students 60 minutes so that more of them experience the thrill of escaping!

You will need: - Chromebook, laptop, or iPad for EACH student (recommended). It can also be done with 1 device for every group of 3-5 students. However, for students to get the best experience, it is recommended that they each have access to their own devices.

- Internet access

- Copier (to photocopy reference sheet - front and back - for each student)

- A free Google account
