Product Description

Have you been wanting to try Escape Room activities in your library? Well, NOW is the time. Shake up you library orientation this year with an Escape the Library project that will get your students talking!!

Talking about your library’s organization, behavior rules, checkout procedures, and book care! It all begins with a quick read of “Do Not Bring Your Dragon to the Library” by Julie Gassman. After listening to the story, students will learn that someone did in fact bring their dragons to the library and NOW we are all locked in the library until they have been tamed! It's time to escape the library and the students are the newest Dragon Trainers.

Together, students will read a “parchment” outlining the information that you as the librarian would typically share in a library orientation. Then students {individually, in small groups, or whole group} will have to use the parchment to solve three unique dragon puzzles that review library organization, procedure and book care. It will take collaboration, discussion, and reading to tame the dragons enough to be freed from the library. A little preparation will be needed, but I promise that it will be worth it!

This product provides you with everything that you will need to run the activity. This is a completely printed Escape Room. There are NOT any digital components. Simply print and copy to prepare.

(1) Step-by-step instructions

(2) Storyline announcement {This launches the Escape.}

(3) EDITABLE Parchment Library Charter {This outlines your library rules and procedures. It is the foundation for the answers to the Dragon Puzzles and completely editable with Microsoft Word.}

(4) Three EDITABLE Dragon Puzzles to solve {In blackline and 6 different colors}

(5) Dragon themed bookmark {Perfect for the Escape prize}
