OVERVIEW:

This "Escape the Room" resource is designed for groups of students to work together to find and solve different factors and multiples activities throughout their classroom. Each activity requires and rewards different items that students will need to escape the room. This activity is themed as a Minecraft adventure.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Please not that this resource does involve quite a bit of PREPARATION TIME due to the type of activity (escape the room) and the number of activities (six).

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

7 Activities: This resource asks students to solve seven different mathematical activities that involve place value, addition, and subtraction.

1. Crafting Bench (Vocabulary) - This activity asks students to put together a crafting bench puzzle by using important vocabulary and their definitions related to factors and multiples.

2. Materials (Greatest Common Factor) - This activity asks students to determine how much of several items they need to gather to survive the world by determining greatest common factors.

3. The Mansion (Modeling Factors) - This activity asks students to determine dimensions of their Minecraft house. Students will need to modeling certain factor pairs and answering questions about them.

4. Sign Language (Factoring Rainbows) - This activity asks students to decode a message left for them. Students will need to be able to factor numbers using factoring rainbows.

5. Find Me (Least Common Multiple) - This activity asks students to construct an image of the person leaving messages for them using least common multiples. Students will be able to determine the least common multiple of two given numbers.

6. Roller Coaster (Prime and Composite) - This activity asks students to complete a roller coaster ride by determining which direction to follow. Students will need to be able to determine if a number is prime or composite AND how many factors it has.

7. Monster Quiz (Patterns) - This activity asks students to answer questions about the Minecraft universe by following number patterns. Students will be able to identify rules and patterns as well as following a given pattern.
