This is an outline for writing body paragraphs in a traditional essay. I've used for years with beginning essay writers. It's an easy to use outline for students to follow until they get the gist of the layout expectations of body paragraphs.
I project it up on the wall/whiteboard and let students write in statements, in this way we write essays as a class many times before writing individual essays. Even when they do begin their first drafts of their first essays - I require this be done first!
As a modification for SpEd students or other learning challenged students, I highlight the different parts of the paragraphs (pink=topics, yellow=details, etc).
I find it invaluable. But, my students are very low, yours may not require as much organization as this exercise teaches. Good for your low students however.
