The peer review process can be extremely effective if students have some guidance. In order to help my students through this, I have created peer review checklists for argumentative and expository essays.
These checklists can be used in any ELA classroom 7-12. In the past I have printed copies of these for each student and had them tape them in their interactive notebooks; however, I now have laminated copies taped to student desks. This has been so effective because students can actually check the boxes as they complete the review process. As the teacher, I am able to quickly glance and see how students are progressing.
It is so nice to see students discussing each other's work and growing through this process. I hope you will find the checklists useful.
