Do your students struggle to organize and plan essays effectively?
Well, this graphic organizer puts everything necessary for an effective essay onto ONE single-sided page. It models the essay structure most commonly taught for effective standardized test responses: introduction (hook & thesis), 2 body paragraphs (topic sentences & examples), and conclusion (restate thesis & new "hook").
All graphics are meant to represent the item they are referring to. So, for the hook, students should plan a fact, quote, question, and story. For body paragraph examples, students should draw from history, film/TV, sports, current events, and personal events. Once students have filled in this graphic organizer, the essay is mostly written.
