You spend hours upon hours grading your student essays, but do you allow them adequate time to read your comments, reflect and revise for true growth?
For years I was frustrated at the time I put forth grading student essays only to find them glance at the comments and tuck them away, never to be looked at again. If our students are to grow from our feedback and comments, we need to give them the space to do so. This activity is designed to accommodate any teacher-scored essay.
-Read teacher comments and rubrics to complete a reflection on their writing process
-Take ownership and responsibility for their success/preparedness
-Follow step-by-step instructions to revise their essays according to teacher feedback
-Set a goal for future writing assignments
Either print a copy of the assignment for each of your students or push out the document via Google Classroom. Make your teaching purposeful and watch your students grow as writers as they apply feedback to revise their written assessments.
