These study guides are the size of a task card but don't let the size fool you!
You'll get the organizational pattern for each type of non-text based essay plus transition, definition, example, anecdote, and objection sentence starters too!
There are 4 cards to a page and they are set up so you could print expository on one side and persuasive on the other side. I suggest printing them on cardstock and maybe even have them laminated.
I was using these with my middle school students. Since they are small, they don't feel intimidating and cover all the things they were expected to produce (aside from conventions) for a "passing" essay on our state writing test in 2014.
NOW in 2015, our state writing test is based on texts that students must read first and I have another "Study Guide" product for text-based writing here:
I am hoping that students will use these to "brush up" before they take the big test!
