This Bundle includes seven products to help your students practice essential skills for writing an essay. These activities would work well during a research unit, or a response to literature. They are ready to print and use today, and would be great for sub plans, warm-up, or as mini-lessons. They are aligned with Common Core Writing Standards 2A-F. The activities include:
*Essay Intro Handout and Practice: A handout to keep for reference and a practice activity with two sample prompts
*Types of Evidence Handout and Practice: A handout to introduce students to the different types of evidence (facts, statistics, expert quotes, anecdotes, and examples), and a matching activity to apply the information
*Interpreting Statistics: Students practice interpreting statistics correctly, so that their essays remain factual.
*Transitions practice: Students use a word bank to fill in the transitions on a research essay paragraph
*Domain-Specific Vocabulary: Students are introduced to this concept, and there is a chart for them to record academic vocabulary for an assigned domain (works for ANY content area)
*Establishing a Formal Style: Introduces rules/guidelines and students correct informal sentences
*Writing a conclusion: Students get a template and practice writing conclusions for both a research essay and a response to literature
All of these items are sold individually in my store, BUT you save 20% by buying them in the bundle. This is perfect for warm-ups, homework, review, or sub plans during a research or response to literature unit. The activities are also perfect for an Interactive Notebook.
