Essential questions are the best, aren't they? You no longer have to tell the kids what they will be learning.....instead they are figuring it out on their own using the question! It couldn't get much better than that:) Oh wait - yes it can! Let me introduce you to Essential Question Task Cards!
I've taken my Best Selling product "Essential Question Posters" and transformed the posters into a task card format. I designed the essential questions to help guide your lesson and present the daily learning objective. They were written by taking the standards and turning them into questions. I've used those questions to create The Essential Question Task Cards, which are all aligned with the 4th Grade Math Common Core State Standards. ( ALL 4th Grade Math CCSS are included in the task cards.)
On each page, you will find: one Essential Question written in 4 different task cards. Depending on how you choose to use them, you could simply make one copy of each page for a small group activity, or multiple copies if you plan to use it as a whole group assessment. The Essential Question Task Cards are color coded according to the following domains:
*Operations and Algebraic Thinking
*Number and Operations in Base Ten
*Number and Operations - Fractions
*Measurement and Data
Wondering how to use them?? I truly believe that the possibilities are almost endless:) The Essential Question Task Cards could be used as entrance or exit tickets, used in a whole group or small group setting, individual or group formative assessment, as a game that introduces or reviews a given concept, or RTI Math Intervention groups.....like I said, totally endless possibilities!
I have included a 6-page preview (full pages) so that you can see the quality of work in this product. Please ask any and all questions before you purchase.
**Check out the following teacher supplements that were designed to be used for the 4th grade Math CCSS:
-- Essential Question Posters.
--Teacher Checklist & Essential Questions for 4th Grade Math CCSS. The checklist allows you to record the date the standard was taught, % mastery, resources used to teach the standard, space for extra notes, and also includes each of the Essential Questions (with the same color coded domains!).
--Say What? An Interpretation Guide for the 4th Grade Math CCSS. This is a great resource that breaks down the "wordy" Math standards into a more teacher-friendly language that you can actually understand and also has the same color coded domains!
