Raising your hand to speak, listening, and following rules are some of the essential skills that should be taught the first few weeks of school and referred to throughout the year as needed. The Essential Success Skills for Classroom Management is a series of skills to teach your students, have them practice using different scenarios, then rate themselves as to how well they have done. It is recommended that you make a chart displaying the steps to each skill so that you and your students can refer to them when necessary. Each of the seven skills is presented thoroughly through a PowerPoint presentation so you and your class can view it together. The skills are Listening, Following Directions, Following Rules, Ignoring Distractions, Raising Your Hand, Working Independently, and Working in Groups.
