This lab is the most fun of the organic reactions to do in a high school lab with limited equipment. You will need several organic acids and alcohols to make a variety of scents, but the reaction itself is deceptively difficult to "get right". Over several years of tweaking, I have selected the acids and alochols that have worked best for me, the best "cooking" temperatures and times, and other tricks of the esterification trade. All of that experience is included in the price of the lab, gratis.
My labs are straightforward. Some of them are paper labs, but the ones that involve significant laboratory setup or calculations to be made on the part of the teacher are written about in a Teacher Notes section at the end of those particular labs. I use relatively safe and inexpensive chemicals. Of course, safety precautions are always noted at the beginning of the lab.
