My students do not like to sit still, so I am always trying to create lessons that can get them up and moving in some way. For this activity, I have put different bottles around the room and I have covered the capacity. The page I have create is their recording sheet. They go around the room with their recording sheet and estimate the capacity of the bottle, choosing from four options. They also need to fill in the measuring cup to represent their estimation. At the end of the lesson, we got into a circle to talk about our estimations and each student got to uncover the answer on each of the bottles. It was lots of fun! There is a sheet with examples of bottles that you can use, as well as an answer key, and a blank sheet for you to add in your own bottles and the capacity options. Metric system - mL and L.
